Comes From A Long Line Of Chiropractors

Dr. Gina Rivas-Castro was born in Texas and moved to the Midwest in 1996. Dr. Gina recalls why she chose to become a chiropractor, "I witnessed firsthand what chiropractic can do by healing my father from a lower back injury. Chiropractic prevented back surgery for him."
Who should be coming to a chiropractor? Everyone from infants to elderly can benefit from chiropractic and optimal health. "Anyone with a spine!" laughs Dr. Gina.
What are the most important things about chiropractic a potential patient to know?
- Chiropractic treats the nervous system, allowing your body to function at 100%.
- You do not have to feel pain to benefit from chiropractic.
- Chiropractic plays a vital role in overall wellness and optimal health.

Believes In Chiropractic Education
Following graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Dr. Gina attended Northwestern Health Sciences University, Bloomington, Minnesota, achieving a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in April 2007. "I chose this school because of its increased science emphasis," she remembers.
If you are thinking about going to a chiropractor, shadow different clinics to see what type of practice fits you. Listen to what they say. "It is truly the most rewarding occupation," Dr. Gina says and, with so many styles and techniques, you need to find that combination that works best for you.

Chiropractic Philosophy Is All About You

What does a chiropractor do? Chiropractic teaches how to stimulate the central nervous system by removing any interferences that may result from stressors:
- Chemical
- Emotional
- Physical
What distinguishes us from other chiropractors? We provide Five Star treatment and see each patient as a family member. When you come to our clinic, we only want what's best for you. Let's talk about it.
The biggest problem in the chiropractic field today revolves around core philosophy. Pain doctors emphasize pain relief and focus primarily on relieving pain. Wellness doctors concentrate on correcting the source problem in order to regain and maintain optimal health and wellness. We favor wellness and want to show you how the path to optimal health removes pain, too.

Chiropractic Techniques Are Effective

Dr. Gina characterizes her chiropractic style as diversified—manual to cranialsacral. Having studied many techniques, she favors the following:
- Diversified
- Activator
- Craniosacral
- Drop
They vary from very light to a little more aggressive. She finds it most effective to have a broad repertoire from which choose.
How do we treat a condition?
- Initially, review your complete health history
- X-rays
- A full chiropractic neurological and orthopedic exam
- Finally, determine if you are a candidate for chiropractic treatment
Dr. Gina remarks, "The biggest challenge I face as a chiropractor is helping my patients distinguish between allopathic and holistic medicine. Medicines and drugs are ingrained in us to treat symptoms; which can be great initially. But chiropractic focuses on getting to the source of the problem and removing it, which is a more complete cure."
