Dr. Douglas Kaster, Chiropractor, Premier Health Chiropractic Of Bloomington

Dr. Douglas Kaster graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1994. After seventeen years of practice, Dr. Kaster continues in his dedication to the optimal health of his patients through chiropractic. He has served as the Chiropractor to the Jockeys at Canterbury Park as well as lectured at the Minneapolis Women’s Expo. His effective specialties focus on the optimal function of the athlete, including extremity adjustments focusing on the ankle, knees, shoulder, wrists and elbow.

During his time as a student, he trained under the highly respected Dr. Mitchell Mally who developed specific and effective techniques to optimize extremity functions. Dr. Mally has treated world class athletes and entertainers and still practices in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. Kaster mastered the Mally technique and, during his final year as a chiropractic student, he joined Dr. Mally to help instruct Doctors at the International Hand Conference and the Clinical Orthopedic Symposium in Chicago, Illinois. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and twins.

Dr. Kaster recalls how a chiropractor affected his life as a child: "My first experience with chiropractic was way back when I was 8 years old. My dad owned a dairy farm with my uncle and he also worked full time at a paper company. Dad hurt his lower back at work and experienced chronic pain. The doctors examined him and wanted to perform surgery, but they had no guarantee that surgery would be successful. We drove to see my cousin Richard, who was just starting his chiropractic clinic an hour away. My dad literally crawled into that clinic, but walked out in considerably less pain.

"As an 8 year old those visits had a huge impact on me. I saw how effective chiropractic is. Our whole family started to visit my cousin for care."

Later, he experienced the curative power of chiropractic firsthand: "The next major event in my chiropractic story occurred in the fall of 1988. I bruised my spinal cord and fractured my neck while playing high school football. After a lengthy hospital stay, I experienced a lot of neck pain and lack of coordination. This was very disconcerting because I love my sports.

"I went back to see my cousin Richard who, through various adjustments, helped reeducate and rehabilitate my spinal injury. Because of this series of personal treatments, I decided I wanted to become a chiropractor and positively impact people’s lives. Being an advocate for optimal health seems to be in my blood and run in my family. Currently, I also have four cousins, one cousin-in-law and a brother who are chiropractors."
